Braulio Casas

Braulio Casas began his education in the building arts at a very young age, learning from his father who was a general contractor in California. He continued in the building tradition as a college student, studying architecture at the University of Notre Dame. He received his Bachelor of Architecture in 1994 and his Master of Architecture degree in 1996. His upbringing and education instilled in him a passion for classical and traditional architecture and urbanism, a passion which he carries forth in all of his work today.

Since he completed his education, Casas has worked in firms across the United States: in New York, Houston, and San Diego. For four years he served in the role of Town Architect for the Town of Seaside, Florida. After completing his tenure as Town Architect in early 2009, Casas decided to remain in Seaside and created the firm Braulio Casas Architects, P.A. of which he is the Principal and founder. His firm specializes in the use of classical and traditional architecture and urbanism to design beautiful and livable towns, neighborhoods, and buildings of all types. The firm has completed projects across the country and many of these have been published and exhibited broadly.

In the academic realm, Braulio Casas is also a writer and an educator. He has been a professor in both the University of Notre Dame School of Architecture Rome Studies Program and also at the New School of Architecture in San Diego, California. His writings cover topics such as architecture, urbanism and sustainability and have been widely published and circulated.
